What is BROOD?

BACKGROUND
Brotherhood of Destiny or BROOD is an organization established in 2002 with its mission to serve, help and protect oneself, our family and the society. Our advocacies among others includes the protection of the environment, foster cultural heritage as well as the arts, empower the youth and promote political and social awareness. Indeed, within the 7 years of service, the organization was able to conduct and participate almost a hundred activities, acquired vast number of thoughtful and committed citizens as members, garner recognition and able to create partnership with other organizations locally and internationally.
OUR VISION-MISSION
A national and international organization whose principles are built on collectivism and serves, helps, and protects its members, their families and the society by means of its advocacies, projects and programs.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- To develop the full potential of each member of the organization in order for him to be of greater value and service to himself, his family and the community;
- To protect the environment and preserve its beauty and natural state so that future generations can enjoy its beauty and so as to be saved from the perils of environmental catastrophe;
- To develop and make clear and concrete stand on political and social issued after considering the welfare of the majority, so that we can develop political and social awareness and contribute to the betterment of society;
- To develop a strong and active youth sector which will be more sensitive of today’s issues;
- To promote sports as one of the basic tools to improve physical and social interaction among both members and non-members;
- To fully utilize the internet and cyber world for the purpose of developing a strong concern for the society and the world;
- To appreciate and uplift members’ talents, creativity and accomplishment so that these talents and accomplishments can be of greater use to the society;
- To appreciate and preserve each individual culture and help each other recognize the beauty of every culture, and in addition promote arts because we believe that it is also a basic tool to bring good changes to the society;
- To help and counsel both members and non-members so that they will have a place to go whenever they need help;
- To commend and recognize both members and non-members who have contributed exemplary effort and contribution to the organization and the society.
SOME ACCOMPLISHMENTS FROM 2002-2009
- Conduct of an annual Youth Summer Camp since 2006 which is also part of the yearly Global Youth Service Day (GYSD), the latest of which is the BROOD 3rd Youth Summer Camp entitled "BROOD Survivor Camp". In 2009 the organization became the National Lead Agency for GYSD.
- The organization was host to the 1st World Creative Youth Forum (WCYF) 2009 from May 5-10, 2009 which gathered more than 70 youth leaders both from the Philippines and from other countries. The result was a global action plan and manifesto on Sustainable Development.
- Launched a new Community Portal in Bulacan www.baliwag.net and also in Malolos, Bulacan www.maloloscity.net
- Participation in the Generation Peace General Assembly and become a member of the Generation Peace National Board.
- Conducted Rock 4 Peace Battle of the Bands to support youth peace advocacy in Baliwag, Bulacan last May 10, 2008
- Environmental Film, Protection, Preservation and Education. The organization had been very active in environmental advocacy and among the accomplished projects are tree planting activities, environmental symposiums, and film showing. Among the most recent activities were the Bb. Kalikasan and Earth Party at San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija on October 2009 and Global Day of Action Against Climate Change through "Signos: Tugtugan, Rakrakan at Musika Laban sa Climate Change" on December 6, 2009. This is also part of the WCYF Earth Caravan
- The organization is part of those who have campaigned for the passage of the Renewable Energy in both Congress and the Senate as a member of Positibong Alternatibo ang Renewable Energy (PARE) ni Juan.
- BROOD is one of the pioneer partners in the PeaceTech Video Conference which was held July 2007 to December 2007. It supported various peace education workshops focusing on the re-echo of what was learned during the conference.
- BROOD is also among those who have published an ONLINE CANDIDATES DATABASE during the 2007 elections.
